The leaves are orange, the pumpkins are orange...

And that's enough orange for me. I like orange flowers in my summertime pots, so by the time my planters match the leaves on the ground, that's enough! By fall, I'm so DONE with orange. So, I've grown really fond of an autumnal red/purple combo that may only be for the brave. Don't think of it as "clashing", try thinking of it as "jewel tones, together". I love using Superbells®, of any color, well into fall. It seems to take on the cooler weather with gusto, making me wonder if UnstoppableBells may be a more accurate name.  See more fall container gardens using Superbells®

Here's how I made a cute Halloween planter for just a few bucks:

Wouldn't these make great table centerpieces
or even a decent hostess gift? I love it,
if I do say so myself...

  • I found a glittery skull at a dollar store, it's no more than a plastic blow mold that's been dipped in glue and glitter. I punctured a hole in his head and cut a small circle (you could use the bottom of the Proven Winners pot the plant came in as a guide). Be careful to not puncture yourself! This is not easy work, but it's over in a flash.

  • I made sure my skull had a hole at the bottom for drainage. My skull came pre-pierced. Once I was sure I'd have adequate drainage, I filled the inside of my skull with soil. What a funny, accurate sentence!

  • Then, I added the Superbells® of my choice. I used Superbells® Red but Superbells® Grape Punch or Superbells® Tequila Sunrise would also look really great. I jammed that baby in there, planted it a few inches lower than the top of the skull so that it "spilled" out more.

  • I added a small amount of bright green reindeer moss around the outside, where
I left jagged plastic when I cut it. I added a small bit here and there on the inside, too, so that no soil was visible.

  • I added some dyed purple dead/dried stuff to add a little extra color and hold down the moss. I wanted this texture and height so that it looked a little like a brain.

  • TA DA! All done! Now I just need to remember to water it.
