Proven Winners' plants appeared at the 2003 US Golf Open held during the week of June 9th, 2003 at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, IL
Ted Ferrell, Landscape Production Coordinator and Mike Sander, Landscape Architect from Clarence Davids and Company in Matteson, IL, contacted Four Star Greenhouse Inc. in Carleton, MI earlier this year to grow plant material for the US Golf Open.
Four Star was honored by the confidence Ted placed in their company and the high value they held for the performance of the Proven Winners plants. At such a high profile event, only the best of the best would be accepted.
Four Star grew the following container sizes and varieties that were displayed throughout the US Open's village areas:
12" Fiber Hanging Baskets containing:
Sutera 'Giant Snowflake'
Calibrachoa 'Superbells Pink'
Vinca Vine and Red Zonal Geraniums
Flower pouches containing:

Petunia 'Supertunia Red'
Canna 'Pretoria'
20" Upright Containers containing:
Osteospermum 'Lemon Symphony'
Verbena 'Superbena Dark Blue'
Verbena 'Superbena Coral Red'
14" Upright Containers containing:

Various Proven Winner varieties used in the landscape including:
Argyranthemum 'Butterfly'
Osteospermum 'Symphony Orange'
Many Proven Selections were also featured:
Ipomoea 'Marguerite'
Ipomoea 'Black Heart'

Plant material was delivered by five semi-truck loads from Four Star Greenhouse to Olympia Fields with great success and nothing was damaged in transit.
Ted Ferrell from Clarence Davids and Company was very happy with the outcome and performance of all the Proven Winners varieties. According to Ted, "We experienced nothing but positive feedback from all that was involved with Clarence Davids and Company and the US Golf Open staff. Proven Winners definitely proved to be successful!"
