Proven Winners awarded Silver Medal for new plant launch at Chelsea Flower Show

Proven Winners® unveiled their latest sensational creation at The Chelsea Flower Show in London, held May 20th-23rd. Sunsatia™, a unique selection of seven new hybrid Nemesias, was rewarded with a Royal Horticultural Society Silver Medal. Six of these varieties will be available in North America for the 2003-04 season.

Richard Harnett, President of Kernock Park Plants, the United Kingdom partner for Proven Winners, said that he was delighted to have been awarded a Silver Medal for their display. "This is a real honour," said Richard. "This justifies all the hard work over the last few years and will certainly help to increase awareness for these sensational new plants."

The Proven Winners display featured 28 patio containers showing all seven colors in the series as well as two 21-foot long window boxes containing the vibrant red Sunsatia™ 'Cranberry'. The new varieties were greeted with amazement by UK gardening consumers who expressed their wonder at the superb color range and plant habits offered.

"Consumer reaction has been fantastic," said Martin Simmons, Executive Director of Proven Winners Europe. "People have been staggered by the range and intensity of colors. We had visitors from the UK, USA, France and Italy during the show, and so we are certain demand will be huge next year," he added.

Sunsatia™ will be available in six colors for the 2003-04 season in North America:
Sunsatia™ Cranberry - trailing red
Sunsatia™ Pineapple - trailing yellow
Sunsatia™ Lemon - trailing gold
Sunsatia™ Coconut - trailing white
Sunsatia™ Peach - upright cream
Sunsatia™ Banana - upright yellow (Mango in Europe)
Sunsatia™ Blackberry - upright pink (European release only)

Technically classed as half-hardy perennials the vegetatively propagated Sunsatia™ varieties produce unusually large blooms and flower over an incredibly long period from early spring until the first frosts of autumn. They are perfect for use in hanging baskets, window boxes and patio containers, preferring a free draining soil and a position in full sun or semi-shade.
