Cape Mallow is native to South Africa and prefers somewhat cooler temperatures. It will suffer when it is hot and humid. This is especially true when night temperatures begin staying in the 70's or higher. Hibiscus mutabilis and Malvaviscus arboreus are better for hot and humid areas.
