Delightful addition to the mixed border.

    Maintenance Notes:

Prune to shape after flowering. This plant flowers on the previous season's growth ('old wood'). Adaptable to most soils but prefers well drained acidic soil. Fertilize with a controlled release shrub fertilizer in spring.

Snow Day Surprise's large white blooms cover this plant in a flood of spring flowers. This is a stronger grower than old fashioned Pearl-bush, with a neater, more compact habit. An excellent plant for the spring landscape!

    • I planted a few of these in a spot in my garden that receives punishing summer heat and afternoon sun. Year after year other “full sun” bushes and shrubs have died in this spot. I tried these out and they are thriving. I did water them 2x/wk their first year through late fall, but that’s about all the attention I’ve given them. Definitely try these out if you have a sunny spot in your garden where nothing seems to survive the hottest summers.

    • I bought this shrub 3 years ago at a local greenhouse. I planted it in an open area that gets strong wind and about 8 hours of full sun. It is beyond the reach of my 300 foot hose and has tolerated some serious dry spells without watering it beyond the first year that it was planted. It has performed beyond my expectations! It's spectacular when it blooms in the spring, better than any magnolia, hydrangea or lilac that I have. It's literally entirely covered with blooms! it has consistently grown in a perfectly round shape and hasn't required any pruning or shaping at all. I regret that I didn't plant it closer to my house so I could enjoy it more. I would definitely buy more if I could find them.
