About Us

Dentoom's Greenhouses is in the business of growing plants. We grow old favourites as well as new varieties. People want something new and unique and we've become real innovators at supplying this new market. We sell a variety of products, from starter plants to hanging baskets.

Dentoom's receives cuttings directly from plant breeders in Japan, Germany, Australia, Holland and England. We also receive cuttings from farms in Costa Rica, Kenya, Mexico, Israel and Chile. Some of these are tissue culture "plantlets" which arrive in petrie dishes and Dentoom's ensures they remain in sterile potting medium as they grow.

Dentoom's also starts hundreds of varieties of bedding plants and perennials from seed.

In addition to shipping cuttings and seedlings to more than 800 professional growers across Canada, including the Red Deer and Central Alberta areas, Dentoom's Greenhouses also wholesales bedding plants to independent garden Centers and national chain stores across Alberta.

Dentoom's is best known locally for our Garden Center which sells to the public during prime garden season from May through July.

Our history

In the beginning years of Dentooms it soon became evident there was a demand for cuttings in the prairie provinces. Dentooms went to work to build a first-class wholesale operation, always being open to introducing and adding new and the ‘unusual’ to our stock list. In 1994, Dentooms joined Proven Winners Group and proudly presented this new line to our Canadian customers. Canadians love Proven Winners and the wholesale business is flourishing. Although most of our customers are in the western provinces, Dentooms has shipped plants to every province and territory in Canada. In 1996, Dentooms began an expansion project to provide a new site to expand the wholesale end of our business. We continue to balance the wholesale operation with a thriving retail business.

Dentooms is a current member of the Canadian Ornamental Plant Foundation, Alberta Greenhouse Growers Association, Flowers Canada, Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association and the Ohio Florists' Association.
