Henry and Jeff Huntington, third generation growers, are partners of Pleasant View Gardens, Inc. The family business originated
with their grandfather who made his living as a roadside farmer. Grandfather Rippe's fruit and vegetable stand in Connecticut would
attract customers from miles away each weekend. It was the next generation, Jon & Eleanor (Rippe) Huntington, that pulled up deep
Connecticut roots and moved the family business to New Hampshire. While vacationing in the beautiful New Hampshire countryside in
1976, Jon and Eleanor were presented with a business opportunity they couldn't resist. So in December of the same year, they
purchased Pleasant View Gardens, what was then a small 3-house wholesale foliage business located in Loudon, New Hampshire. Upon
graduating from college, Jeff and Henry both became increasingly more involved with the business. Over the years, Pleasant View
continued to apply innovative ideas to their ever-expanding business. In the mid-1980's, the Huntingtons diversified their product
line and branched into color and propagation, which remains the heart of their business.
With two production facilities, covering approximately 8½ acres, Pleasant View Gardens is one of New England's largest
wholesale greenhouse businesses. Through the extensive use of technology at our newest state-of-the-art facility in Pembroke and
our home site in Loudon, Pleasant View is capable of offering only the best in plant material.
Henry and Jeff are both graduates of the University of New Hampshire; Henry has an A.S. in business management and Jeff, an A.S. in
Plant Science. Over the past 25 years, they have taken a hands-on approach to all areas of the business. Henry now serves as
President and CEO and is responsible for sales, administration, and facility management. Jeff serves as Vice-President and COO
and is responsible for production and growing needs.
Both Huntingtons are accomplished speakers who have spoken before many industry groups across the country. They support the
industry through memberships in numerous organizations including the Ohio Florists' Association, the American Nursery & Landscape
Association, the New Hampshire Plant Growers Association, Bedding Plants International, FFA, New England Nursery Association and
the New Hampshire Pesticide Control Board.
In his spare time, Henry Huntington enjoys working on his gardens at home and relaxing with his family. Jeff is an accomplished
wood-worker and enjoys restoring his 1790's colonial home, as well as spending time with his family.
