can vary widely.

plants actually need.

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #1
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: When a plant tag says "indirect light" that
can mean a room without a window.
This is probably the biggest, and most damaging misunderstanding
of houseplant care. "Indirect light" means your plant still needs
natural light to survive, just not from direct rays coming through a
window.
Look for sun rays that are reflecting off of surfaces, softened
through curtains or blinds, or simply place your plant a few feet away
from a bright window as a starting point. Observe your plant's
behavior, and adjust accordingly.

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #2
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: Spritzing plants increases much needed
humidity.
It is a common misconception that simply misting your plants can boost
overall humidity.
Actually, it does more harm than good! Spritzing your plants can lead
to fungal diseases, pests, and mineral deposits. If you feel like your
plants are not getting enough humidity, try placing a humidifier in
the room.

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #3
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: Don't fertilize in the winter.
Traditionally there is not a need for fertilizing in the winter, BUT,
now with modern innovations such as growing lights, the definition of
growing season has changed.
Your plants may benefit from fertilizer in the cooler months if they
are actively growing.

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #4
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: You must repot your plant over time to give
it more room to grow.
True, but this is not the main reason! Most importantly, plants should
be repotted to change out the old soil for fresh soil. Don't let your
plants' roots miss out on much needed nutrients!

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #5
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: Repot your plant as soon as you bring it
home.
When you bring a new plant home, it is dealing with the stress of a
new environment. Repotting adds even more stress. We suggest giving
your plant some time to adjust to its new home before moving it to a
new pot!

HOUSEPLANT MYTH #6
HOUSEPLANT MYTH: I
need to move my plant to a much bigger pot.
This can be harmful due to too much moisture for the roots! We suggest
only going up one pot size at a time to give your plant a proper
amount of space to grow.
