I felt like I needed to provide a other review. Once the weather cooled down, this plant did very nicely. It struggled in any temp above 80°F. But once we regularly got below 80°F, this little guy did very nicely.
I do feel the need to mention though, that the plant grew back this year. I'm in Utah, USDA zone 7b, and this plant appears to have the desire to be a perennial (Either that or the goldilocks rocks that I have growing in my planter are a result of the flower heads going to seed last year and then dropping their little black seeds in my planter). We had a TON of snow last winter, and this little plant sat in my planter with 2-3 feet of snow (and ice melt residue) sitting on it for a good 2 months straight.
After it and the other plants it was in the container with died off, I ripped off all the dead leaves, leaving only the root systems. I'm not certain if it has returned via the root system or via the seeds it produced last year.
It's an adorable little plant though. It hasn't bloomed yet, but it's close. I'll have to leave the foilage this year and see if it greens up again next spring.
BTW, if anyone at Proven Winners needs more information from me, let me know. It appears that the zone information for this plant may be incorrect.
