I managed a private farm in San Diego which grew Genista as a 6 to 7 foot tree. Once it bloomed we pruned branches to sell at flower market. the scent of the flower is exquisite and highly sought after.

Prune to shape after flowering. You may need to trim back some branches with tip die-back after harsh winters. Once established, survives in drought and heat very well.
Drought-tolerant color and texture!
A floriferous, low mounding selection of Genista that produces waves of electric yellow flowers in spring. Improved branching and texture make this a wonderful plant for containers and for mass plantings. Bangle has an interesting texture and is incredibly showy in the landscapes, especially when in bloom.Bangle® Genista lydia 'Select'

It is beautiful when blooming and the foliage continues to be beautiful all season, even when the summer is very hot and dry. It is an interesting plant all season long.Carole Prohaska, Pennsylvania, United States, 10 years ago
