I adore my double play gold spirea. I planted it 2 years ago and it is thriving in full sun, clay soil. I do fertilize it once in the spring, but that's it and it probably doesn't need it. Super drought tolerant, cold tolerant and gorgeous when the leaves emerge in the spring. I adore the contrast of the bright gold leaves against my wine and roses weigela. A stunning combo.

Double Play spiraea has both bright flowers and colorful foliage. This compact, low mounded plant has vibrant golden foliage and an abundance of pure pink summer flowers. It adds easy, season long color to gardens with very little effort. Double Play Gold maintains its compact mounded shape with very little pruning, and has much brighter color than other gold spiraea varieties.Double Play® Gold Spiraea japonica 'Yan' USPP 21,615, Can 4,074
