I bought this in quart size last summer, and it showed promise. Unfortunately, it woke up in the Spring as a stick struggling to bud a single leaf. This happened to a few other shrubs I purchased at the same time, and I've learned that no matter how much I want the plant, I have to wait until a larger size is available. The shrubs in quarts do not survive the winter and, if they do, it takes a whole year to recover and start growing.
- Part Sun to Sun
The optimum amount of sun or shade each plant needs to thrive: Full Sun (6+ hours), Part Sun (4-6 hours), Full Shade (up to 4 hours).
This plant is hardy in zones 3 - 9
Zones are based on the lowest average temperature an area is expected to receive during the winter. They are used to determine whether a plant is likely to be perennial in your area. If your zone is equal to or higher than the zone listed for the plant, it will be hardy for you and thrive in your climate.
My Current Zone
An awesome plant for northern landscapes: a gold-leaf version of 'Tor'! Buds with hints of red in them open to white spring flowers. Sunny yellow foliage holds its color well, and the full, compact habit is very attractive. Also, it doesn't burn in the summer and has great fall color. If you're looking for a colorful, hardy plant that will look great all season, this is the variety for you! This extremely hardy and colorful plant is native to North America.
