Sell Through Research

In an effort to validate the benefits of packaging and merchandising, Proven Winners asked StandPoint Market Research, the industry's leading research firm, to design and implement a study designed to track sales of plants with and without packaging and merchandising. StandPoint conducted the research at Rolling Green Nursery in Greenland, NH and Churchill's in Exeter, NH.

Key Findings

Proven Winners plants from Fixture 1 outsold unbranded plants from Fixture 2 at a rate of nearly 5 to 1. These dramatic results show that plants displayed in Branded Containers and on a fully merchandised and signed display outsell generic plants on a non-merchandised and signed display.  Branding and merchandising dramatically increases sales over generic plants.

Proven Winners plants from Fixture 2 out sold generic plants from Fixture 2 at a rate of just under 2 to 1. This data shows that consumers are drawn to branded plants and branded packaging - using the Proven Winners Branded Container increases sales.

Overall, the results clearly indicate that the Proven Winners brand, Proven Winners Branded Containers, and point-of-purchase materials positively impact the sell-through rate.

Over the course of the research, when combining both locations, Fixture 1 outsold Fixture 2 by 195 plants.
