This is the second year for our Velvet Fog. The plant has tripled in height and has five branches with plumes about ten inches tall. The plumes, blossoms, are pink and have seed scattered throughout. When the late afternoon sun shines through the plumes they glow pink! Because of the hot Texas sun, she gets morning sun and afternoon shade and is on drip irrigation. Plant survived the freeze last year, 150 hours of 35 and below and 65 days this summer of 100 degrees or hotter. Tough, beautiful plant with blue green leaves that are thick. Love It! Would recommend this plant!

Smokin' hot!
The Velvet Fog smokebush is the most floriferous we have ever seen. That means you get more of what this perennially popular flowering shrub does best: big, showy, smoky seedheads in summer. The red-pink plumes make a really nice, appealing contrast with the blue-green foliage. Fantastic planted as a specimen or hedge, thanks to its lush, full branching and form.
Available at better garden centers in spring 2021.

We planted this in zone 6a and had been doing great even through extreme heat and drought. We absolutely love this as an addition and would highly recommend. Very hardy.
