Little Dipper® Cotoneaster
2 1/4" finishes to 1 gallon in 12-14 weeks, Quick Turn finishes to 2-3 gallon in 16-20 weeks.
Very short height will not shade neighboring crops, so helps maximize spacing in the nursery.
Use a light, well-drained growing media – dislikes wet roots.
Naturally forms many fine branches, but trimming a few times to encourage good pot coverage.
This plant blooms on old wood, so dormant and spring pruning will remove flowers and fruit. Plan sales season accordingly – probably best pruned its first season and sold the following season. Stop pruning in late July to allow flower buds to form.
Spider mites may occur; cotoneaster is in the rose family and may be susceptible to same pests if stressed.
Sales season extends to fall thanks to the bright, apple-like fruits at that time of year.
