I have planted 30 Sun Patients in a long row boarding the front of a long landscaped area in the front of our house for four years. This area gets about 5 hours of sun in the morning. I have always bought the same type with a tiny reddish color in the center and very dark lush leaves at our local mom and pop nursery here in Murfreesboro tn. Two spring seasons ago I was in Florida, we visited a couple of local box stores and the Sun patients were very healthy so we bought 4 flats at 8 dollars cheaper a flat. The same type with the reddish dot in the center of the white petals, they grew very well and by September they were around 18 inches high. They support each other cause I choose to plant them a lil close together about 10-12 inches apart. This way they flow together with no gaps in between. Spring arrives this season and I cant find my favorite growing flower friends oh No! The nursery has what's called a Compact SunPatient and this is what they have for the season. So I get them not knowing how they are going to do. We are now in July and they are very pretty and Full (compact) and healthy. The difference I've really noticed is the leaves do not have that lush dark green color and I miss the height the ones in the past had. So both types have their advantages, the full compact version are great in pots for me and the taller version fills in great in the more spacious areas. Its great to have choices because these beautiful proven winners flowers grow and thrive in the heat. Its been in the high 90s lately here in Murfreesboro Tn. so I ground water each morning trying to keep everything from drying out. Im not a professional gardener you guys I just Love digging in the dirt! Happy Gardening Everyone Bee
